Discover Countless Ways To Play:
Help the child identify each character. Ask the child to give each character a name.
Use the puppets to ask the child questions, and let the child ask questions of the puppets, too. For instance, the puppets might ask the child what it's like to be a kid or ask about favorite snacks, games, or friends.
Place one puppet on your hand and one of the child's hand. Use your puppet to ask the child's puppet questions. For instance: "I like singing songs with my friends. What do you like to do with friends?"
Use the puppets to act out a scene for the child. For instance, you could pretend the ballerina is sad because she doesn't know how to swim, and the mermaid offers to teach her. Allow the child to join in the scene or simply observe.
Use the puppets to act out challenging social scenes and encourage the child to help you resolve them. For instance, perhaps the princess wants to play with the fairy but doesn't know how to ask, or maybe the ballerina is being too bossy and the others are upset.
Help the child describe the key details on each puppet's outfits (for example: the princess's necklace, the ballerina's tiara, and the fairy's wings).
